Someone close reached out to me via text message a few evenings ago inquiring about a church service that would be taking place with some Christian mediums. Perplexed by what I was reading, I immediately responded back that there is no such thing as a Christian “Medium”. So my next thought was “what in the world is this about?” Although they didn’t know too much about the service, I was able to share some things & scriptures, letting them know I strongly advised against attending that service. After doing a few online searches I realized there are people advertising themselves underneath that title which disturbed me greatly so let’s discuss this and look at the Scriptures for more understanding.

1 Samuel 16:1-13 – Focus Verses 6 & 7: “When they arrived Samuel took one look at Eliab and thought, “Surely this is the Lord’s anointed!” But the Lord said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
Good morning I was just going to share a quick Facebook or Instagram post but I wanted to share a few extra words of encouragement so here’s today’s devotional scripture:
"So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh." - Galatians 5:16Please read Galatians 5:16-26 for the full context:
"Walking in the bible not only refers to moving along on foot. It's a figure of speech that refers to our behavior, conduct, and course of life. It refers to how we observe the laws or customs. It ultimately refers to our lifestyle. “...GOD! I knew it—when I was back home, I knew this was going to happen!....Ready at the drop of a hat to turn your plans of punishment into a program of forgiveness!" -- Jonah 4:1-2 MSG Photo Credit: Scapegoat Studio - Behold the Lamb of God by Jonathan Mayer "The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world" -- John 1:29
The Lamb is an interesting animal and important symbol in Christianity. If you look up the characteristics of sheep you find out why God often uses them to illustrate believers. A minister & friend of mine taught on Psalm 23-"The Lord is my Shepherd", in our home bible study group a few years ago, and it was an excellent teaching because he brought out various attributes on how like people, sheep are stubborn, have "crowd-mentality", are defenseless, and prone to stray, among other things. That definitely sounds like people LOL! We laughed through that entire message.... "Later, when Peter came to Antioch, I had a face-to-face confrontation with him because he was clearly out of line. Here’s the situation. Earlier, before certain persons had come from James, Peter regularly ate with the non-Jews. But when that conservative group came from Jerusalem, he cautiously pulled back and put as much distance as he could manage between himself and his non-Jewish friends. That’s how fearful he was of the conservative Jewish clique that’s been pushing the old system of circumcision. Unfortunately, the rest of the Jews in the Antioch church joined in that hypocrisy so that even Barnabas was swept along in the charade. But when I saw that they were not maintaining a steady, straight course according to the Message, I spoke up to Peter in front of them all: 'If you, a Jew, live like a non-Jew when you’re not being observed by the watchdogs from Jerusalem, what right do you have to require non-Jews to conform to Jewish customs just to make a favorable impression on your old Jerusalem cronies?'” Galatians 2:11-14 MSG
WOW!! Galatians 2:11-21 is a passage I can truly appreciate. PLEASE READ FIRST : Ephesians 6:10-18 -- Spiritual Warfare of believers
We have all probably read this scripture a thousand times, right? Good, because I’m not going to be breaking down this passage.... |
