That's not all--I go to tell a coworker of mine what they said. She's a older woman of God, and with all I had gone through & being newly born-again at that time, I often shared things with her. As I start telling her what has happened, she begins to look at me with the most disturbed face so I stop to ask her why she's looking at me crazy. She begins describing the exact physical appearance of a little girl that the 2 people had given me & I hadn't even reached that part of the conversation! She begins to tell me she had also had a dream the night before last, but had been apprehensive about telling me.
At this point I'm completely freaked out!!! I have a missing cycle and 3 people recently dreaming about the same little girl. There's 3 different situations taking place with that ex-boyfriend, and the other common denominator was the fact that I was unhappy, upset, and miserable. Could this be coincidental? I'm afraid not...
Hebrews 4:16 says "Let us therefore come BOLDLY unto the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need" I have that access as a born-again believer because of JESUS and what he has done on the cross! I had received God's grace before, answering my prayers to help me escape the relationship so now I was coming back asking God whether or not I would pay the consequences.
I let them know what happened and that I'm praying for God to intervene. I knew that a future with this man only had one direction: DOWNHILL. As the prayer ended, one of the elders says "The Lord says that you will be fine, but this is a warning. If you get involved with him again, this will indeed become your outcome" Needless to say I never looked back!
"When a man has been restored from the effects of sin, he should learn to avoid the very appearance of evil. He should shun the place of temptation; he should not mingle again with his old companions; he should touch not, taste not, handle not. God visits with heavier judgment those who have been once restored from the ways of sin and who return again to it." - Barnes NT Notes
I know that John 5:14 is what the Lord was telling me regarding that situation and I'm that much more grateful that in His love for me that He sent people to warn me. Even if they didn't see the significance, or were not sure that they should even share, they played a role in delivering the word of the Lord. Within 1-2 weeks my cycle came back and I was happy. He was not- it was his last opportunity to keep me in his life. A few months later I was to discover that another girl he was involved with was pregnant. I think you all can guess what she had....
Guess the point of sharing all this is to remind us all not to take our sin lightly. Proverbs 26:11 says 'As a dog returns to it's vomit, so a fool returns to his folly." Whether your sin is similar to mine, or something else, it is not wise for any of us to repeat or go back to sin after the Lord has spared us. One thing that gets many of us in trouble is not learning from our mistakes. When you see someone who often repeats the same mistakes, it's likely because they are un-teachable. They reject truth and therefore find themselves getting back into the same situations. 2 Peter 2:20-22 in the plain English bible explains the danger of this in even more detail
"People can be made free from the evil in the world. They can be made free by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. But if they go back into those evil things and are controlled by them, then it is worse for them than it was before. 21 Yes, it would be better for them to have never known the right way. That would be better than to know the right way and then to turn away from the holy teaching that was given to them. 22 What they did is like these true sayings: “A dog vomits and goes back to what it threw up And, “After a pig is washed, it goes back and rolls in the mud again.”"
